To make VolunteerHub as easy for volunteers as possible, there are several ways a user can sign in or create an account.

TABLE OF CONTENTS

Creating an Account

Username and Password

The most traditional method of creating an account is by a user creating a username and password.

Should a user create their account via this method, they could choose to sign in with the Magic Link email (not needing their password) or could link a social media account later (assuming their existing account shares the same email address).

Social Media Accounts

A user could choose to create their VolunteerHub account by first signing in via one of the social media options below:

Once they select one of these options, they temporarily leave VolunteerHub to sign into that account and accept any terms or conditions that company requires.

For the following examples, notice that the top URL is no longer VolunteerHub, but is instead the sign-in page for each social media provider.

Should a user have questions about these pages, the terms, or any other steps being requested of them—those questions would need to be directed to the external company (e.g. Google).

For example, below are screenshots of me linking my Google Account.  I have my Google Account set to require 2-Step Verification, so I am being directed to open my Google Photos app.  VolunteerHub is not involved in this verification step and can not provide any support or guidance to users as this is related to account they have with another company.

The exact screens and/or steps involved may be different depending on how each user has their social media account configured.

Signing In

Username and Password

User first enters their username and is then prompted for their password on the next page.

This is the only sign-in method which provides a 'forgot password' link.  Clicking that link walks the user through resetting their password.  No other method provides the option of resetting a password as all other methods do not require a password.

On the Sign In page, a user may choose to enter their email address instead of their username

*Note: if the user enters an email address, and if more than 1 user has the same email address, and then the user enters a password, the system will sign them into whichever account uses that password.

Prompt for Magic Link

Once the user enters their email address or username they are presented with this page:

They could choose to click 'Sign in with Password', where they enter their password and are signed in.

Alternatively, the system sends them an email with a link to sign in:

If they click the link in the email, the system will sign them into VolunteerHub without the need for a password.

If more than one user has that email address, they are given a page to select which profile they wanted to use:

Once they click on a profile, it signs them into that account.

Social Media Sign-ins

Much like creating an account via Social Media (outlined above), users could also sign-in with these accounts.  If they had not created their account with this method they could link their existing account, assuming the email address of their VolunteerHub account matches the email address of their preferred social media account.

If this is the first time they are choosing to sign-in with this method, they may have to agree to terms and/or 2-Step Verification provided by that social media company (outlined above).
