Notice of Disruption to Text Messaging in VolunteerHub

In an attempt to combat issues of spam and fraudulent text messaging, major U.S. cellular carriers have begun to enforce standards to prevent unregistered numbers from sending text messages.

As a result of that enforcement, VolunteerHub must make several changes in order to comply with these standards, in conjunction with the third-party service we use to send text messages.

Until we are able to make those changes, starting September 1, 2023, text messages sent via VolunteerHub will no longer be received by all U.S. cellular carriers.

If you do not use text messaging communications, this change will not affect you. If you do use text messaging, while VolunteerHub texting capabilities are unavailable for your organization, we recommend the following:

  1. For event reminders, continue to use the Email Reminders. Email will be unaffected by the text outages.
  2. To communicate with individual users, locate their Mobile phone number on their user profile and text them manually.
  3. To communicate with user groups or event attendees, you can use the Export Phone Numbers feature (provided in the Text dialog on the user group or event page) to retrieve all phone numbers and text them manually.

Once the issue has been resolved, we will restore all customer Text Messaging Credits to the number they were on July 5, 2023, plus an additional complimentary 250 Text Messaging Credits.
